Hans Herren explains why it is urgent to create innovative partnerships for agricultural research in and with Africa following his presentation at the Second workshop of the Assessments/Projections/Foresights Seminar, held at CTA on 25th - 26th of February 2010. His example is www.infonet-biovision.org He admits the challenge is not so much a resistance towards multi stakeholder partnerships but its complexity to manage it and make sure communication between the different actors is effective.
Hans R. Herren (Switzerland/USA) is President of the Millennium Institute (MI) since May 2005. From 2004 to 2008 he co-chaired the International Assessment of Agricultural science and Technology for Development (IAASTD). Prior to joining MI, he was Director-General of the International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Nairobi, Kenya.
