Visit of Baroness Tessa Blackstone


On Thursday 31st of January 2008 FARA was honoured by the visit of of Baroness Tessa Blackstone.

She has been Minister for Education at the Department of Education from 1997 to 2001 then Minister for the Arts at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport 2001–2003. Before joining the government, she headed Birkbeck College, University of London, from 1987 to 1997. She is a Labour life peer in the House of Lords and sits as Baroness Blackstone, of Stoke Newington in Greater London. In 2004, she became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich. Baroness Blackstone is a Vice-President of the British Humanist Association.
